Can’t find a health and social sector professional in Finland? Training in the country of origin helps employers in recruiting from the EU and EEA.

This is a recruitment service that helps employers in finding the health and social sector professionals they need.

The state covers 50% of the costs of the training.

How the service works

A service provider specializing in recruitment searches for candidates with the skills required by the employer, evaluates their skills, and introduces suitable candidates to the employer. The candidates are licensed health and social sector professionals in their country of origin, such as nursing assistants, practical nurses, nurses, physicians, and specialists.

Once the recruitment service has found the appropriate candidates, they are given training in their country of origin. The training includes orientation to their future workplace, Finnish working life, and Finnish society and culture. The candidates are also taught Finnish or Swedish.

The service aims to ensure that the professionals recruited can move in Finland and start their work as smoothly as possible – and that the experience would be equally smooth for the accompanying family and, of course, for the employer.

Implementation of the service

The service is tailored according to the needs of the employer and the experts recruited. The goals, content, duration, and implementation method are determined together with the employer.

The ELY Center assists in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the service. The procurement contract is concluded between the employer, the ELY Center, and the service provider. The service provider is selected from among the service providers approved for the dynamic procurement system.

The service provider investigates the employer’s needs before designing and implementing the service. The service is designed according to the employer’s needs, and the employer can influence its content.

Recruiting training in the country of origin provides the employer with a uniform service path for recruiting talent from abroad, and the service is suitable for companies of all sizes, including public sector employers.

Recruiting training in the country of origin is discretionary and subject to a fee. The training is financed jointly by the employer and the economic affairs and employment administration.
